DAOLER® Flywheel Friction Shim | Exclusive for Rotary Engines – Precision Transmission Core Powered by Diamond Technology
DAOLER® Flywheel Friction Shim – Engineered exclusively for rotary engines, featuring a nickel-coated steel substrate with embedded diamond particles to deliver high wear resistance, strong frictional grip, lightweight construction, and aviation-grade airworthiness compliance. Optimized for the eccentric shaft–flywheel disc connection in dual-rotor engines.
In the critical connection between the eccentric shaft and flywheel disc of a dual-rotor engine, the stability, wear resistance, and reliability of power transmission directly determine the engine's output efficiency and full-lifecycle quality. The DAOLER® Flywheel Friction Shim is custom-developed for rotary engine platforms. Leveraging an innovative composite structure of a nickel-coated steel substrate with embedded diamond particles, combined with micron-level precision manufacturing, it serves as the "power transmission anchor" under high-load, high-vibration conditions. Fully compliant with aviation airworthiness standards, it provides a reliable connection solution for high-performance rotary engines under demanding operating conditions.
High-Performance Material Foundation
The DAOLER® Flywheel Friction Shim employs a nickel-coated steel substrate with partially embedded diamond particles, overcoming the performance limitations of conventional shims. The substrate offers high rigidity and resistance to deformation, supplemented by a 13–17 μm electroless nickel-phosphorus (Ni-P) protective layer. This layer not only provides a stable anchoring matrix for diamond particles but also imparts excellent corrosion resistance. As validated by the NSS salt spray test per GB/T 10125, the substrate remains free of red rust after 48 hours, reliably withstanding complex humid-thermal conditions within the engine.
The shim incorporates diamond particles with an average particle size of 25 μm, firmly embedded into the substrate surface. Leveraging the superhard characteristics of diamond, a micro-mechanical interlocking structure is formed, eliminating the common drawbacks of low friction coefficient and slippage associated with traditional shims. The shim is compact and lightweight, with a pre-coating thickness of 0.1 mm ± 0.01 mm and a total post-coating thickness of 0.16 mm ± 0.02 mm. Its net weight is only 0.0009 kg, ensuring lightweight integration without affecting the original precision assembly clearances of the engine. The shim is perfectly dimensioned for the eccentric shaft–flywheel disc connection of rotary engines (outer diameter: Φ37.5 mm, inner diameter: Φ20 mm, locating pin hole center distance: 14 mm).
Precision Manufacturing and Rigorous Quality Assurance
Designed as a critical component for dual-rotor engines, including aviation-grade variants, the DAOLER® Friction Shim is developed and manufactured under stringent automotive and aviation dual-dimensional standards, meeting the highest requirements of both precision industrial applications and airworthiness certification.
1.Design and Tolerance Standards: Drawings, geometric tolerances, and general tolerances comply with international standards such as ISO 128, ISO 1101, and ISO 2768, ensuring dimensional accuracy and interchangeability.
2.Environmental Compliance: Strictly meets the requirements of GB/T 30512-2014 for prohibited substances in automotive applications, ensuring non-toxic and environmentally friendly performance.
3.Aviation Airworthiness Compatibility: Fully aligns with aviation airworthiness standards including ASTM F2339-19a, CCAR-33-R2, and RTCA/DO-160G. Through in-depth interpretation and compliance validation, it is suitable for rotary engine applications in aviation fields such as light sport aircraft.
4.Extreme Performance Parameters: The mating surface roughness is controlled to Rz < 12.5 μm, with a static friction coefficient (μs) ≥ 0.45. This high friction coefficient ensures strong gripping capability, effectively eliminating micro-slip and loosening between the eccentric shaft and flywheel disc under high-speed, high-torque conditions, thereby achieving zero-loss power transmission.
5.Ultra-High Cleanliness: Cleanliness ≤ 0.3 mg, with strict control over particle sizes (particles > 150 μm: fewer than 100 counts; no particles > 600 μm), preventing abrasive wear on precision mating surfaces and meeting dust-free assembly requirements for engines.
6.Surface Quality and Protection: The surface is free from nicks, dents, scratches, and other defects. Comprehensive protection during logistics and assembly prevents impact damage and ensures product quality upon delivery.
Customized Fit and Comprehensive Collaboration Support
DAOLER® specializes in friction connection solutions for rotary engines, offering customized development tailored to the structural characteristics of various rotary engine models. The friction shim features precisely positioned locating pin holes that perfectly match the positioning structures of the flywheel disc and eccentric shaft, enabling direct assembly without additional modifications for maximum compatibility.
In terms of tooling and gauging, DAOLER® follows the principle of "precise fit and free optimization." Gate, ejector pin, and parting line positions are confirmed through in-depth communication with DAOLER's engineering team. New molds are validated through trial production to ensure fit accuracy, and subsequent free adjustments are available based on vehicle-level matching deviations. Gauges are designed based on product digital models, enabling full parametric measurement. Structural and accuracy requirements strictly adhere to design specifications, with no unauthorized changes, ensuring consistency in mass production.
